Song and Meaning of the Moment: Allison Iraheta

So.... First post will be a music post. Every now and again I would like you guys to hear some awesome music and know just what it means to me. I LOVE to dissect lyrics and background music. So for this first entry I'll test two songs, one artist. Allison Iraheta. She was on this past season of American Idol, and after reading about her, she lost at 4th place. I didn't watch this season (for personal reasons) and was like, ok, just another girl singing bad rock songs. I stand (or sit) corrected. All the elements of Pink, Prince, and all the female punks of the past. She has such a harsh voice and can do no wrong with it. Giving her CD a listen, I found several songs I have been putting on REPEAT now!. Among them, "Scars" a yearn for being simply perfect to the one you love. She offers the statement, "I got flaws, I got faults, keep searching for your perfect heart. It doesn't matter who you are, we all have our scars." UGH gorgeous.

Then we have rocker anthems, "Friday I'll Be Over U", a kiss off song to hopefully being over someone by week end, and the super catchy "Robot Love", a sample from early rock days (see if you can catch it) about an ass who loves texting (sexting these days) and any other annoyance technology can bring to the table. Leave the phone on vibrate you idiot!
Finally we have... my fave right now. "D is for Dangerous". Now normally I'm not a lover of songs that use the alphabet as inspired lyrics, HOWEVER! Genius background music, that has you tapping your foot as soon as the first riff hits. She is so calm starting out, and she carries a story through the letters so well, that you forget the order they're coming in. And D is for how dangerous this girl can be when she starts really using the pipes. Girl can BLOW. Great song, great siren. A must if you like pop punk, Prince and especially Pink.
